  • Territorial Roots: The Harn Homestead dates back to 1889, rooted in the days of the Oklahoma Land Run and the early formation of Oklahoma Territory.

  • Seven Historic Buildings: The site is home to seven beautifully preserved structures—including three originals. Among them:

    • The Harn House – Once home to William Fremont Harn, an early settler and prominent territorial figure.

    • The Shinn Barn – A rare, hand-hewn structure that tells the story of early agriculture.

    • The Shepherd House – Under review for registry placement, this home helps represent everyday family life during Oklahoma’s territorial era.

  • Registry Status: The Harn House and Shinn Barn are officially listed on the Oklahoma National Historic Registry, affirming their cultural significance.

  • Hollywood Spotlight: The homestead has served as a backdrop for historical documentaries, photo shoots, and educational films.

  • Living History for Students: Each year, thousands of students walk through the gates of the Harn Homestead and step back in time. In the 2024–2025 budget year alone:

    • 5,813 students participated in programming

    • 92 schools sent students to explore

    • 286 educational sessions were delivered

  • Hands-On Learning: Through guided field trips, costumed interpreters, and interactive exhibits, children experience how early Oklahomans lived, farmed, and built their communities.
