Harn Homestead Camp Out

What happens at the Camp Out?

Your group will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the years of Territorial Oklahoma with an evening program in the farmhouse, a tour of the historic Harn house, and a morning program in the historic Shinn Barn. A campfire with songs and stories, roasting of hot dogs & marshmallows, and “camping” in our 3,000 square foot wood and stone heated barn add to the evening’s excitement.

What should you bring?

Toiletry items, flashlight, and sleeping bag should be in a heavy trash bag or duffel bag clearly marked with child/parent’s name and group. Cots or sleeping pads are recommended. Please leave valuables such as radios, t.v.’s, game boys, and other electronics at home. Please bring camp chairs to sit on around the campfire.

What should you wear?

Be sure and wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants or jeans and t-shirts. Remember to dress weather-appropriate and bring any necessary coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. The barn is heated, but still drafty. Groups will be outside in the evening and morning.

What about food and snacks?

Guests are responsible for their own meals. Bring snacks for late night munching and something for breakfast. No refrigerator will be available. Groups must pick up and help take out their own trash.

What is the cost?

Registration is $20 per child and $10 for sponsors, with a minimum registration of $500.00. Cost includes a Harn Homestead patch, programs, campfire (may be artificial due to burn bans or other considerations), roasting sticks, story and/or songs, full-time staff member and access to facilities. A minimum of one adult sponsor is required for every four campers. Registration and fees are due two (2) weeks prior to event. Registrations are transferable to another camper in case of illness, etc. No refunds will be given.
